Uwajimaya Village Apartments is in the heart of Seattle’s International District located above the Uwajimaya grocery store.
Unlike most of the garden style properties that we work on, this project required us to build pedestrian protection on the sidewalk and fixed frame scaffolding above. Installing the scaffolding involved coordinating with the City of Seattle to acquire the necessary street use permits as well as working around the New Years construction moratorium.
Once we got the scaffolding set up, we removed the existing stucco and made major framing repairs on parts of the building.
We replaced all the windows and installed a WRB with rainscreen and Hardie Reveal panel system on most of the building.
On the corners, the Owner wanted to provide an accent siding, so we installed pre-stained cedar siding over a rainscreen.
